Deicke Park
Deicke Park - 11419 S Il Route 47, Huntley, IL 60142
Deicke Park is full of wonderful outdoor amenities such as a fishing pond, baseball fields and fantastic playgrounds. However, the real draw for my kids is this massive slide that you might miss if you weren’t looking for it!
Located toward the back of the park behind the fishing pond, this unique slide is settled under a shady tree separate from the Deicke Discovery Zone (which you absolutely have to check out as well!)
My kids can seriously spend an hour or more here racing to the top of the slide and seeing who can get down the fastest. And because the slide is settled on a hill, at no point is the slide super high off the ground, which makes it great for little kids too. (You could easily walk along side the slide holding your child’s hand.)
Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy it under a tree, or head over and eat at one of the shaded picnic tables at the amazing Deicke Disocvery Zone.
Deicke Discovery Zone is a completely fenced in playground with only two gates of entry, which is great for those little explorers that like to make a mad dash, or when watching more than one child! This park is mostly catered to kids 8 and under and there is SO much to do!
This park is beautifully maintained and colorful, with statues and murals through out. There is a swinging bench, shaded tables, large sand area, several play structures emulating a small town, a fire engine play structure, a giant chalk board, and a really neat basketball area with varying size and types of hoops.
Most pf the playground is covered with soft, rubbery flooring which is great on the knees, and a lot less “ouchies” should your child take a spill.
What to bring:
Picnic lunch or snacks
Sandbox shovels, pails and toys
Chalk for the Chalkboard
Basketball for the various basketball hoops
Afterwards grab an ice cream treat from “The Freeze” which is just a few minutes drive from the park!
